Letting Rules

All hirers must read, agree and abide by the following rules...

  1. Applications for the hire of Gadebridge Community Centre should be addressed to the Manager, Gadebridge Community Centre, Gadebridge, Hemel Hempstead, Herts HP3 1 LG. 
  2. The Hall/Rooms should not be used for any purpose other than that for which they have been let to the Hirer.
  3. The Hirer shall vacate the Hall/Rooms by the time stated on the Hire Form. 
  4. The Hirer shall not sub-let or assign the Hall/Rooms or any part thereof.
  5. No furniture, fittings or equipment shall be moved from the premises, unless with the permission in writing to the Community Centre Committee of Gadebridge Community Centre.
  6. Where the Kitchen forms part of the hiring agreement it is the responsibility of the Hirer to ensure that only specified equipment is used and that upon leaving the kitchen is left in a clean condition.
  7. The Office is for the sole use of the Manager or other person authorised by the Management Committee.
  8. Smoking is not allowed anywhere in the Gadebridge Community Centre.
  9. The Hirer shall permit duty authorised officers and servants of the Centre and Police Officers on duty to have free access to all parts of the Hall/Room during the hiring and shall comply with any reasonable directs given to them.
  10. The Hirer shall not permit any interference with the Gas or Electric fittings, pipes or other installations.  No gas or electric fittings in any part of the building are to be altered or removed.  Neither must any additional light or heating apparatus be installed without the written consent of the Community Centre Committee.
  11. No adjustment of the central heating system will be made except by an officer or servant of the Centre.
  12. No nail or screws or other attachment are to be made to the Walls or any part of the Hall/Rooms, and the building must in no way be defaced.
  13. No entrance or exit doors shall be removed, fastened or blocked in any way.  The windows shall be used only as a means of entrance or exit in the case of an emergency.  All fire and public safety regulations must be strictly obeyed.
  14. The Hirer shall not exhibit bills, posters advertisements, photographs or leaflets at Gadebridge Community Centre, except with the consent of the Management Committee.
  15. The Hirer shall be responsible for ensuring the maintenance of order, and in particular the cleaning of the premises at the end of the function.  He/she shall leave the Hall/Rooms, furniture fixtures and articles in good order and to the satisfaction of the Caretaker or other appointed servant of the Centre.  Any misconduct by a person attending a function may result in the Hirer and/or their organisation being refused further bookings or loss of the bond.
  16. The Hirer shall conduct the activity for which the Hall/Rooms are hired so that no interference occurs with other users of Gadebridge Community Centre.  He/she shall provide sufficient stewards throughout the period of hiring.
  17.  The Hirer shall ensure compliance with all the laws relating to entertainments, tax and copyright and with the conditions of stage licence, music and dancing licence.  Performance Rights Society licence or Photographic Performance Ltd Licence, which may be applicable to his/her hiring of the Hall/Rooms, shall supply to the Centre any information reasonably required for any of these purposes and shall be responsible for obtaining any licence required in connection with the hiring of the Hall/Rooms.
  18.  If the Hirer proposes to give a public performance (for the purposes of Copyright Act 1911) any of the gramophone records or tapes or compact discs or mini discs – he shall obtain any necessary licences from Photographic Performance Ltd.  The Hirer shall indemnify the Centre against any failure to observe this rule.
  19.  The Centre shall be entitled:-
    1. to detail, all articles and things brought into the Gadebridge Community Centre by or for use of the Hirer until all sums due from the Hirer to the Centre are paid and the requirement of these rules have been fulfilled.
    2.  On giving written notice to the Hirer to cancel any letting for any day on which the Centre require for any public purposes any Hall/Rooms which have been let and the Hirer shall have the option of engaging the Hall/Rooms for some other day or have returned to them any payment they have made to the Centre in respect of the let, but the Centre shall not be liable to pay or allow the Hirers any further compensation in respect of the cancellation or alteration of the letting.
  20. The number of persons to be admitted to any dance or function must not exceed 150.
  21. The Centre reserves the right through its Management Committee to refuse any application for the hire of the Hall/Rooms, and to refuse admission to any person or persons.
  22. It is a condition of the hiring that no responsibility be accepted by the Centre for the loss of, or damage to, any private property, which be brought on the premises as a result of the hiring.  The Hirer shall indemnify the Centre against all claims for loss or damage. 
  23. The centre shall be entitled on giving 3 months’ notice in writing to increase the hire of the Hall/Rooms and to retain any payment made by the Hirer in the event of the Hirer cancelling the hiring. 
  24. In the event of a fire or on the sound of the alarm (continuous bell ring) please use the fire exits but DO NOT use the lift. Please take your register or guest list and congregate at the fire assembly point (Garage area at the back of the building). 
  25. If any members of the group are disabled it is the responsibility of the hirer to make arrangements for evacuation in the event of an emergency.
